新增LL.M.项目简介
LL.M. Programs at Temple
There are two different LL.M. degree programs open to foreign-trained lawyers. One is a General LL.M. degree program which offers foreign-trained lawyers the most flexibile law curriculum and the other is the Taxation LL.M. degree program which is limited to tax law subjects.
General LL.M. Degree
Students in the general LL.M. degree program can complete the degree in two semesters and may design a curriculum to meet his/her individual academice interests. Students in the General LL.M. degree curriculum have only 2 required classes out of their 24 required degree credit hours and the rest of their classes may selected from the over 100 elective subjects offered
at Temple Law each academic year. Students are only permitted to begin General LL.M. degree studies in August and graduate in May at the end of 2 full-time semesters of study.
General LL.M. Degree With Certificate in Taxation
Another option for General LL.M. students is to take 12 of their 24 credits in taxtaion law subjects and earn a "Certificate in Taxation" along with their General LL.M. degree diploma. Students in this program will still have some flexibility to take courses in other non-tax related subjects and complete the degree after 2 full-time semesters of study. Students may begin their General LL.M. degree studies in August and can expect to graduate the following May.
Taxation LL.M. Degree
The Taxation LL.M. degree is more limited curriculum that is restricted to tax related classes. The Taxation LL.M. curriculum simply will not offer students the flexibility to enroll in the broad range of U.S. law subjects that is available to students enrolled in the General LL.M. degree program.
While Taxation LL.M. students may begin their studies in either August or January it will take foreign-trained lawyers 3 semesters to complete the Taxation LL.M. degree program instead of 2 semesters. This is because foreign-trained lawyers will be required to complete the basic United States Federal taxation course #600 during their first semester of Tax LL.M. studies. This is a pre-requisite foundation course that prepares Taxation LL.M. students for their other advanced level Taxation LL.M.classes. Course #600 must be successfully completed during the first semester before the student will be permitted to enroll in any other advanced level taxation classes in their final two semesters.
